220-Metre Sauropod Trail Found

Oxford University Museum of Natural History and University of Birmingham co-led a 2025 discovery of a 220-metre sauropod trail at Dewars Farm Quarry, Bicester, Oxfordshire.
Gary Johnson noticed the trail in 2023 during limestone extraction, with the quarry remaining active and no immediate reopening plans.
Researchers documented 200 footprints, including 80 giant prints and rare three-toed Megalosaurus tracks.
Dinosaurs moved at ~4-5 mph based on stride and hip-height data, with 20,000 images captured for 3D models.
The site provides insights into Middle Jurassic behavior, with sediment sampling and digital mapping ongoing for future study.
