Alexander Isak accused of broken promises by Newcastle, transfer window tensions

Newcastle United have rejected Alexander Isak’s claim that he was told he could leave this summer and hinted at no future deal for an exit materialising in the closing stages of the transfer window. The Swedish striker accused the club of 'broken promises' and stated trust was lost between the parties. Newcastle responded with a statement confirming Isak remains under contract and that no commitment has been made by club officials allowing him to leave this summer. The club emphasized they do not foresee meeting the conditions for a sale before the transfer deadline. Isak, who missed pre-season and recent matches due to a minor thigh injury, blamed Newcastle for the breakdown in trust, claiming promises were made and the club has known his position for a long time. He stated that when trust is broken, the relationship cannot continue, and change is in the best interests of everyone. Newcastle will host Liverpool on Monday while the club has struggled to find a replacement striker after Isak’s departure.
