Chancellor of St Andrews Passes Away

Sir Menzies Campbell died in London at 84 after respite care at Kyn Hurlingham.
Served as Chancellor of the University of St Andrews from 2006 until death.
Born and educated in Glasgow, studied international law at Stanford and University of Glasgow.
Trained in law, joined Scottish Bar in 1968, became Queen’s Counsel in 1982.
Led Liberal Democrats in 2006, resigned after 19 months due to poor polling.
Served as MP for North East Fife from 1987 to 2015.
University of St Andrews mourned him with flags at half-mast.
Praised by Alex Cole-Hamilton and Willie Rennie as a respected figure.
Held CBE, Privy Council appointment, knighthood, and sat in House of Lords from 2015.
Married Elspeth Campbell over 50 years.
