Federal Judge Blocks DOJ from Unsealing Epstein Case Grand Jury Documents
A federal judge in New York rejected the Justice Department’s request to unseal grand jury transcripts from Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case. Judge Richard Berman ruled that the transcripts contain little more than a PowerPoint slideshow and call logs from June 18 and July 2, 2019, with no victim testimony. The judge noted that the only witness was an FBI agent who provided mostly hearsay. Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Epstein’s trafficking ring, faces further scrutiny as the government has not released additional documents despite public pressure. The House Oversight Committee aims to interview her but will not grant immunity.
