French Couple Freed from Iranian Prison After 3 Years

Macron announced Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris were freed from Tehran's Evin prison after 3 years.
They were arrested in May 2022 on spying charges linked to France and Israel.
Iran linked release to a swap involving Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian national detained in France.
Esfandiari was conditionally released last month and is now in Paris.
French diplomats reported the couple was in good health and awaiting release.
France took the case to the International Court of Justice.
Detention lasted 1,277 days, ending an arbitrary hold.
