Gaza Conflict Intensifies with Tunnel Plan

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Israel will destroy Hamas tunnels in Gaza after hostages return, under a US-led international mechanism with IDF preparation.
The two-year war began after Hamas' Oct 7, 2023 attack that killed 1,200 people, with a tunnel network stretching for several hundred kilometers beneath Gaza Strip urban areas.
IDF units withdrew toward the yellow line, with Givati and Golani brigades leaving after completing objectives, while Katz ordered tunnel destruction preparations.
Half a million residents in Gaza City and northern Gaza Strip have returned since the ceasefire, and the UN says over 1,300 trucks are ready for supplies if crossings open.
Sharm el-Sheikh will host a Gaza summit co-chaired by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi, with Israel releasing 250 prisoners and 1,700 Palestinians.
