Hidden AirTag compartment in Skechers children's shoes allows parents to track kids

Skechers has introduced kids' sneakers with a hidden compartment in the heel that allows parents to insert an Apple AirTag. This compartment can be accessed by lifting a small insert, enabling parents to track their child's location—specifically their shoes. The shoes do not come with an AirTag and are not an official Apple collaboration. Apple only advertises AirTags for tracking items like keys or luggage, not people. AirTags use Bluetooth to signal nearby Apple devices, providing location estimates without GPS. While Skechers' product targets children, the technology could be used for adult surveillance, such as for dementia patients who may wander, raising privacy concerns.
