Stakeknife, a top British spy linked to the Irish Republican Army, was flown out of Northern Ireland on a military aircraft when authorities knew he was wanted for conspiracy to murder.
Stakeknife is believed to be Freddie Scappaticci, who fled to England in 2003 and died in 2023 under a new identity provided by authorities.
Scappaticci admitted to being Stakeknife and provided information about murders, but his handlers withheld this from investigators.
