Jimmy Lai Convicted Under Hong Kong's National Security Law

Mitigation hearing started on Jan 12 at Hong Kong's West Kowloon Law Courts for Jimmy Lai and eight co-defendants.
Lai, founder of Apple Daily, was convicted under national security law for conspiracy with foreign forces and sedition.
Six former Apple Daily staff, including Cheung Kim-hung and Ryan Law, were in court.
Apple Daily subsidiaries and co-defendants Chan Tsz-wah and Li Yu-hin were convicted.
Lai faces up to life imprisonment, with no sentencing date set and an appeal possible.
Rights groups and foreign governments condemned the conviction, with Amnesty International calling it a threat to press freedom.
