Large Fire Consumes Abandoned Grade I-Listed Woolton Hall in Liverpool
Firefighters battled a significant blaze at Woolton Hall, a Grade I-listed manor house in Liverpool, which was abandoned and gutted by a large fire. The fire took several hours to extinguish, with crews using nine fire engines initially. By 2am on Wednesday, the main body of the fire was extinguished, though dampdown and checking for hot spots continued overnight. The building, privately owned and constructed in 1704, suffered roof collapse. Local campaigners have long advocated for its preservation due to its deteriorated condition. Fire crews were called to the scene around 8pm on Tuesday evening, and residents were warned to close windows and doors.
