Latter-day Saint Leader Passes Away

President Russell M. Nelson died at 101 in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, Mountain Daylight Time.
Nelson was a pioneering heart surgeon before becoming a church apostle in 1984.
He led the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as 17th president from 2018.
Nelson suspended church services during the COVID-19 pandemic and announced 15 new temples in 2024.
He won the Gandhi-King-Mandela Peace Prize in 2023 and worked with the NAACP.
Nelson preached in over 130 countries, with 17 million members mostly outside the U.S. and Canada.
