Recall of Four DermaRite Hand Soaps After Bcc Bacteria Detected

Hand soap must clean hands and reduce bacteria. DermaRite Industries LLC recalled four hand soaps nationwide after detecting Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) bacteria. Bcc, found in dirt and soil, can cause lung infections, especially in those with weakened immune systems. DermaRite states no illnesses have been reported. Affected products include DermaKleen, DermaSarra, KleanFoam, and PeriGiene. Users should stop using recalled products and contact [email protected]. Alternatives include a $2.99 aloe-scented soap that moisturizes and is recyclable, and an EWG Verified medical-grade cleanser with a light grapefruit scent, no artificial colors, mineral oil, or petrolatum.
