Wharton Beach Unearths 1916 Wartime Letters in Bottle

Brown family found bottle with letters from Private Malcolm Neville and William Harley at Wharton Beach, dated August 1916.
Experts say bottle was launched into the Great Australian Bight, floated weeks to a month, then buried in sand dunes for a century.
Debra Brown connected with Neville's relatives via social media, who were stunned by the discovery.
Bottle is pristine with legible writing, suggesting it stayed buried ashore.
Another historic bottle was dislodged by erosion, with Neville killed in action and Harley dying in 1934.
