Birth tourism scheme under scrutiny

Texas AG Ken Paxton sued De Ai Post Partum Care Center for illegal birth tourism.
The center operated an illegal 'birth tourism' scheme to help foreign nationals secure U.S. citizenship for their children.
The business operated in Sugar Land, Houston, Richmond, and Rosenberg for nearly 20 years.
It facilitated up to 20 births per day and claimed to assist 1,000+ babies.
Paxton seeks a permanent injunction and $1M in damages.
The lawsuit alleges violations of the Texas Penal Code and Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
