Crackdown on LGBTQ+ Culture Under Putin's 'Traditional Values'

Russian police detained Eksmo CEO Yevgeny Kapyev on April 21 for a criminal case involving LGBTQ+ themed books.
The investigation started in 2025 after more than 10 staff were arrested when 'LGBT propaganda' was found in books by Popcorn Books, an Eksmo subsidiary.
Investigators searched homes linked to the Supreme Court's 2023 designation of the 'international LGBT movement' as extremist.
The detention is part of a broader crackdown on LGBTQ+ culture under Putin's 'traditional values' campaign.
