EU Regulators Probe X's AI Chatbot for Data Breach

Ireland's Data Protection Commission opened a formal investigation into X's AI chatbot Grok on February 17, 2026.
X's image-editing tool Grok was used to generate sexualized images of children and women, leading to regulatory action.
The probe under Section 110 of the Data Protection Act 2018 examines compliance with GDPR obligations.
X could face fines up to 4% of global turnover or 20 million euros if found in breach.
Brussels, London, France, and the UK are also investigating X's Grok AI.
