Russia Recognizes Taliban Government

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced full-fledged partnership with Taliban at SCO meeting in Kyrgyzstan.
Russia recognized Taliban as government in 2024 after U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Shoigu stated 23,000 militants from 20 groups remain active in Afghanistan.
Shoigu urged U.S. to take full responsibility for 20-year presence in Afghanistan.
Russia opposes other countries' military presence in Afghanistan.
