Two Executions Scheduled in Florida
Willacy burglarized Sather's Palm Bay home in September 1990 during lunch break.
After discovery, he attacked Sather with blunt object, bound her with wire and tape, doused in gasoline, set on fire.
Autopsy showed Sather died from smoke inhalation, indicating she was alive when set on fire.
Willacy convicted of first-degree murder, burglary, robbery, arson, resentenced to death in 1995 with 11-1 jury recommendation.
Florida Supreme Court denied Willacy's appeals last Wednesday.
Florida's fifth execution in 2026, following 19 in 2025.
James Ernest Hitchcock, 70, to receive lethal injection on April 30, another Florida execution this month.
